Larry, Roger and Becky Hoagland, Jay Schaefer, Donna Fletcher, Darlene Miller, Dan Carpenter, Rachel Rodgers, and Pastor Bob Rodgers just returned from Nepal where they did a ministry trek in the Himalaya mountains . It was very strenuous and sometimes dangerous; crossing over river beds with rushing water, high altitudes, and climbing rock steps, and narrow pathways that always went up! Some days they would walk 10-12 miles a day which would take approximately 8 hours. They were able to visit two villages and show the Jesus film. The porters, who were Nepali Bible School students and of the Sherpa people (they are the ones who take people to Mt. Everest ), carried the generator/film/backpacks, etc for the team. People responded to the film and the invitation message given by Pastor Bob and accepted Christ as savior. Now, we will try to start a fellowship there to disciple these dear people.
Ten years ago when the last trek was made several fellowships or churches were started up in the mountains. Larry turned 70 just before this recent trek and the Nepali people said he did better than the last trek and looked younger!!
The picture is of Larry and a Nepali lady who went on the first trek 10 years ago and stayed back to help Larry. She just turned 102. She was excited to see Larry and patted him and told him how he looked stronger…… She is a little woman of stature but strong in the Lord. She did not accept Christ until she was 85. And learned to read shortly after.
